Book Recommends?

(my cookbooks--just cleared off one whole shelf!)

I have a ton of credits right now at PaperBackSwap. I'm proud of myself for cleaning out my bookshelf--I hate to part with books, so this is a major effort for me.

Now I have the room to expand my selections. What are you reading right now? Anything to recommend to me? I love Fiction, Cookbooks, and many non-fiction subjects. Leave me a comment on the blog with your suggestions.

  1. Oh honey I am right there with you on having a hard time parting with my books. Especially cookbooks. I am looking at my built-in bookshelves right now and currently I have 6 shelves of cookbooks in here and a cute little cubby in my kitchen with even more.

In my living room bookshelves I have about 10 antique cookbooks that I adore. Most of the antique ones are half cookbook and half housekeeping books with all sorts of information on how and when to clean everything.

My mom brought me a bunch of cookbooks a friend of hers was getting rid of. I spent one whole evening looking through them and used post-it notes to mark the recipes I might actually be interested in. What I am going to do is to photocopy those pages and then set these books free. They do not need a shelf in my already full bookshelves.

Ok. So the cat's out of the bag...I've never read a blog before now when i read about your request for book selections. WOW! I love your page! I don't even know the correct terminology. The design is cute, love the pic too. What's zazzle? i tried to comment on your post but it asked me for some kind of id and thought this would be so much easier at the moment. Guess I'll have to figure it all out at some point.

So for books... I just finished reading "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert with my book group. It was a good read. Gilbert is very honest and candid. Not my favorite but it definitly had some good points. Especially the beginning.

My favorite so far was "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb. Not many in the group liked this one but I thought it was great and would read it again. Don't let the synopsis fool you. The book is not about a girl with a weight problem, which is what I was expecting. I was surprised by some of the twists and really enjoyed the character. I'd like to read some of his other books sometime.

If you like thrillers, you might like "The Romonov Prophecy" by Steve Berry. He writes using historical backgrounds which makes the book more interesting. This is my favorite of his.

There's also David Baldacci. He wrote the book "Absolute Power' which became a movie. I didn't read that book, but have started the Camel Club Series. I have read the first 3 books, and they get more interesting with each new title!! This is one series that i can't wait until each book comes out. Just finished the third book and it was my favorite. Craig agrees!

So there are a few suggestions for you. Oh - stay away from the Grisham book "The Appeal". it was not "appealing" at all ;o)

Gotta get to the library to pick up my next book group selection - The Scarlet Letter. We voted on a classic book this time.
