Cardmaking--Craft Day with Mom

Oh, the messes we make when mom and I do a craft day....Mom brought out a bunch of paper-craft supplies, and wanted to help me make some cards to give as gifts, or perhaps to sell at a craft show. We had a great day together but spent half of it setting up! I pulled out all my scrapbooking supplies to add to the pile, and we had the makings of a great construction project. It was really fun to return to my five-year old sense of creativity with glue sticks and plastic scissors. We had some really pretty papers to choose from, stamps and ink, interesting pens like a white marker, punches to embellish corners and edges, and ribbons in differing widths. Mom taught me some new techniques, like cutting out a stamped image to set it off from the rest of the design. Here's our handiwork:

The best present was the custom stamp mom bought me to use on the back of my work. The leaf--my favorite motif!
Have you ever made your own cards? Or are you into scrapbooking or some other papercraft? Where do you get your supplies? Where do you go for ideas and inspiration? Tell me about it in a comment below.

  1. Ellen,
I love the cards you and your mom did. They're beautiful. I'll bet you two did have a fun day.
Too bad the free Ben and Jerry's wasn't that day. You deserved a treat after that fun day.
    Love Aunt Trudy

  2. Hi Ellen,

Sounds like so much fun, and the cards are great. Thank you for the card that you sent me. I know what goes into making cards. I am so happy that Jane is enjoying the classes. We have a fun time visiting and making cute cards etc.
