I grew up as a 4-Her. From age 8-18, I completed projects, showed in county and state fairs, won a ton of ribbons, and went to summer camp. Through 4-H I learned good citizenship, leadership, community service, and made a ton of friends. Today I called the county cooperative extension to find out how I can again get involved--as a volunteer. I can't wait to work with kids on fun projects again and recite the 4-H Pledge:
As a True 4-H Member, I pledge
My head to clear thinking
My heart to greater loyalty
My hands to larger service
My health to better living
For my club, my community, my country, and my world.

I'm a 4-H volunteer too! I can't say enough good things about 4H. I was not a 4-H'er growing up, but both of my kids are and they are learning so many great things. Thanks for spreading the word about this great program and letting people know that it's not just about country kids showing farm animals.

Things have changed since I was in 4-H. Had to go get fingerprinted today before I could volunteer. Apparently there's an orientation now too. But, these requirements are for the benefit of the kids, so it's a minimal amount of effort to put in to get to be a leader. I'll let you know when I get involved in a project!
