I've found a few more food festivals that are a bit of a drive from my L.A. home, so these would be weekend trips, like the Gilroy Garlic Festival I went to a couple years ago. I want to post about them though to dream about for next summer.
The Marysville Peach Festival, formerly the California Peach Festival, is scheduled for July 19th and 20th this year. They host craft vendors, food vendors cooking for every taste bud, several delicious choices of peach related foods, and great entertainment for all ages. It runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, and admission is free. Marysville is a bit north of Sacramento, about six hours from the San Fernando Valley.
The annual Courtland Pear Festival is held the last Sunday in July from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Sacramento River Delta town of Courtland, located just 20 minutes south of Sacrament, off Hwy 160. In addition to fair food, this event features live music, a fun run, arts & crafts, a classic car show, and a parade. Another great feature: their website has a recipe section. Pets are not allowed; admission is free, but there is a ten dollar parking fee.
How much do you love peaches or pears? Have a favorite recipe? Please post it in a comment on the blog.
