I just found out about this festival that I missed this past weekend, so I'm bookmarking this event for next summer. The Sunland-Tujunga Watermelon Festival is run by the Lions Club. It takes place every August, and admission is only one dollar. It features attractions and games, a festival marketplace, a petting zoo, watermelon carving contest, and seed spitting contest, a greased melon relay race, a watermelon growing contest, and all kinds of other fun stuff! I'm really bummed that I missed out this year.
